The Devil and Tom Walker is a short story by Washington Irving that first appeared in his 1824 collection of stories titled Tales of a Traveller, as part of the "Money-Diggers" section. Tom Walker has been compared to Faust/Faustus, famous German legend about a man who makes a deal with the Devil in order to gain knowledge and wealth.
